About the Municipality
The village of Abasan grew more than a thousand years ago, the sons of Abes, who are the belly of the tribe of Lakhm in the Arabian Peninsula and over the years separated a small part known as the small town of Abasan relative to the remaining part of the large town of Abasan compared to its area was collected by a village council and in 1972 resigned Each with an independent village council and the small Abasan village council under the chairmanship of Mr. Mohammed Hamdan al-Daghmeh. After his death, the council was headed by Mr. Mohammed Abdul Rahman Asfour. In the presence of the Palestinian National Authority, the name of the council was changed in the name of the new municipality of Abasan and a municipality council was appointed in 1996 under the chairmanship of Mr. Jalal Mohammed al-Daghmeh.

The new town of Abasan is located east of Khan Younis, 5 km from the center of the city and is part of the eastern region of Khan Younis.
