About the Municipality
In 1950 the Deir Al Balah village council was established to provide street cleaning services, arrange and organize markets in different parts of the city. In 1973, it became a municipality to expand its services department. The mayor and members were appointed to the public. It provides services in a number of areas such as water and sanitation, in addition to establishing several projects that serve the citizens and to meet the minimum needs of the public in the region. And was followed by several municipal councils, most recently on 16/6/2010 headed by a. Said Ahmed Nassar, where the council is responsible for drawing up municipal policies in various fields. The number of employees in Deir El Balah Municipality is 120 employees distributed in various administrative and technical fields according to the approved structure of the municipality. The municipal council, while presenting projects to donors, places the needs of citizens in order to relieve them of even the daily suffering they face and to help deliver the necessary services to them in the hope of raising their economic, educational and health level.

About the City
Deir al-Balah is a Palestinian city located in the center of the Gaza Strip. It is the administrative capital of the central region. It was opened by Muslims in 13 AH by Amr ibn al-Aas. St. Hilaryon established the first monastery in Palestine in Darom. He was buried in the eastern neighborhood of Deir al-Balah.
