About the Municipality
The Municipality of Zawaideh was established in 1978, where it was a local committee and then developed into a village council in 1982. After the arrival of the Palestinian National Authority, a municipal council was appointed. The municipality started its activities with limited activity, limited to cleanliness, drinking water and electricity. That there is a need for follow-up and supervision of engineering matters from the follow-up of buildings and the provision of services and supervision of projects, which called for the development and increase services to citizens, and in 2005 was the election of a new municipal council for the first time and under international supervision where the process was done by appointment previously, The new municipal council received its work on 16/2/2005. On 26/12/2016, a new municipal council was appointed from the Ministry of Local Government, consisting of 13 members.

About the City
After the Nakba of 1948, the Zawaideh area was divided into two parts, from Sheikh Salem Street in the north, which was considered within the scope of the city of Nusseirat, and from Sheikh Salem Street in the south was considered within the scope of the city of Deir al-Balah until Hamwail agreed on the work of a local committee in 1978 to take care of the affairs of the region A village council in 1982 and called Zawaideh village with its current geographical location. Due to its beautiful location in the Gaza Strip, the residents came to live there.
