Introductory session on the rehabilitation project of  Street No. 2 in Al-Fakhari area

On Sunday 7 April 2019, Al-Fakhari Municipality hosted an introductory session on the rehabilitation of Street No. 2  in Al-Fakhari area (Sofa Street) , The meeting was attended by Dr. Suleiman Al Amor, Mayor of Al Fakhari Municipality, Dr. Nour El-Din El-Madhoun, Director of the Project Development and Safeguards Unit for Solid Waste Management Project in the Gaza Strip. Fahd Rabah and Dr. Younis Al-Mughair Representatives of the Consortium of Advisory Offices World Vision, Sajdi and its partners, the representative of the project contractor Al-Qaoud Company for General Trading and Contracting, in addition to the environmental specialist in the solid waste management project Eng. Samir Matar, and community specialist in the project Eng. Enas Qandeel, in addition to number of residents of the area.

The session was opened by Dr. Amour who stressed in the importance of the current project for the residents of Street No. 2, and that the rehabilitation process will contribute to alleviate the traffic problems experienced by the residents of the region now. Al-Madhoun said that during the recent period, this street has become one of the vital streets in the region and that the rehabilitation process is necessary for both the citizen and the project of establishing the new Al-Fukhari Landfill. This project comes within the framework of the first component of the solid waste management program , In the governorates of Khan Yunis, Rafah and the Middle Area, with funding from the World Bank Group, the French Development Agency and the European Union.

As a consultant for the project, Dr. AlMogair and Dr. Rabah gave a detailed explanation of the rehabilitation project, which will run for a period of 3 months starting from April 2019. The environmental and social measures to mitigate the impact of the project during the work have been emphasized. Also Eng. Sameer and Eng. Enas explain how to submit complaints and suggestions by the residents of the area and farmers, indicating the channels of effective communication of the project and how to document these complaints and deal with them.
