During the eighth day of the training program in solid waste management for municipal staff and joint councils,which implemented by the consortium of Ma'alem and E-Co Conserv companies,The JICA Foundation held a lecture entitled "Establishment of a medical waste management system in the Gaza Strip Program", By the coordinator of the project Eng. Reem Abu Kamil, In the presence of Eng. Saher Younis, Director of JICA Office in Gaza and Dr. Ali Barhoum the Executive Director of JSC-KRM.
During the lecture, the program details have been displayed and the difficulties faced by the team and how to overcome them, until reaching the establishment of the first medical waste treatment station in the Gaza Strip via autoclave machine, which ensures compliance with environmental standards.
It's worth mentioning that medical waste treatment station has been operating since August 2018 by JSC-KRM, Hazardous and sharp medical waste is collected after separation from 13 UNRWA clinics, 27 MOH clinics and 5 MSF clinics, In addition to the medical waste generated by the kidneys and the central laboratory in Shifa Medical hospital.
