The closing ceremony of the training program in solid waste management for the staff of local authorities and joint service councils

The Municipal Development & Lending Fund (MDLF) has concluded a specialized training program in solid waste management for the staff of local authorities and joint councils in the Gaza Strip. The program was held over (9) consecutive days with (50) training hours, with the aim of developing the capacities of (50) staff working in health and environment departments in local authorities and joint service councils for contributing in raising the efficiency of employees in solid waste management field in order to improve the services provided in this sector.

The training program was implemented by the consortium of Ma'alem and E-Co Conserv through a selection of local and international consultants and experts.

The closing ceremony was attended by Eng. Ala'a AlBata'a Chairman of the JSC-KRM, Eng. Noureddine El Madhoun Director of the Solid Waste Management Project Assurance and Development Unit, Dr. Nasr Al-Muzaini Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ma'alem company, Dr. Tarek El Geneina the manager of E-Co Conserv, Dr. Ali Barhoum the Executive Director of JSC-KRM, Dr. Abdul Rahim Abulkombz Executive Director of the Joint Services Council in Gaza and the northern Gaza Strip, In addition to a number of staff of the MDLF and Local Authorities.

In his speech, Eng. Noureddine Al Madhoun thanked the trainers and participants for their efforts in developing the solid waste sector, especially under the difficult economic circumstances experienced by this sector. And he noted that the MDLF has provided a great interest in this services sector and has a permanent orientation to provide support for its advancement.

Eng. Ala'a AlBata'a has praised the training program in hope that its impact will be reflected positively on the citizens as the participants will contribute to the improvement of the services provided, especially in areas that benefit from new facilities established through Solid Waste Management Project, which implemented by the MDLF in favor of JSC-KRM.

Dr. Nasr Al-Muzaini has praised the participants for their active participation during the training days, and from his side Dr. Tarek El Geneina thanked all the local authorities that collaborated since the beginning of the primary collection study which implemented by the consortium of Ma'alem and E-Co Conserv.

It's worth mentioning that this training program is one of the outcomes of the study of the primary collection of solid waste, Which is one of the most important studies included Solid Waste Management Project in Gaza Strip which implemented by MDLF, funded by World Bank Group, French Development Agency and European Union.
