A delegation from Gaza Municipality visits the Council's facilities to benefit from the Council's experience in the solid waste management field
Eng. Aladdin Al Batah Chairman of the Board of Directors of JSC-KRM welcomed a delegation from Gaza Municipality, In order to enhance cooperation with the Council and to learn more about its experience in the project of solid waste management in the Gaza Strip.
The delegation was greeted also by the Eng. Yehia Al Astal the Board Consultant, Dr. Suleiman Al-Amour Mayor of Al-Fukhari Municipality and Dr. Ali Barhoum Executive Director of the Council.
Eng. Aladdin Al Batah welcomed the attendees and mentioned that in recent years the Council has been able to develop its technical and administrative capabilities through the use of the funded projects that worked to create the infrastructure of the Council, which was built within the activities of the project components of solid waste management in the Gaza Strip, which implemented by MDLF for the JSC-KRM, funded by the World Bank Group, the European Union and the French Development Agency, In order to improve the solid waste sector in the Gaza Strip through the use of highly efficient methods and improved infrastructure, taking into consideration all environmental and social procedures and standards.
Then Eng. Aladdin Al Batah affirmed the Council's readiness to cooperate with others seriously in order to preserve the cleanliness of the Gaza Strip and get rid of random landfill.
Then in his speech Dr. Yahya al-Sarraj, mayor of Gaza Municipality, emphasized on the interest and desire of the municipality to benefit from the experience of JSC-KRM, in order to activate the role of the other Council in the Gaza and the North Gaza governorates, which it will improve the provided services in the solid waste sector.
Then Dr. Ali Barhoum Executive Director of the Council and the JSC-KRM team gave a detailed presentation to the delegation on the establishment of the Council and its administrative structure and their internal rules of procedure,Then they displayed details information about the Engineering, environmental and social standards in the process of establishing and construction of the Al-Fukhari Sanitary Landfill and the closure of the old one.
The visit included an introductory tour of Rafah Transfer station and Al-Fukhari sanitary landfill, as well as the mechanism of the council and its staff.
