A community-based consultative session on the closure of Deir Al-Balah landfill

On Thursday, December 26, 2019, in the municipality of Wadi Al-Salqa and within the framework of preparing an environmental and social management plan for the closure of Deir Al-Balah landfill. A consultation session was held with the owners of the lands surrounding the landfill.

The session was attended by a group of farmers and landowners surrounding the landfill, in addition to a number of municipal employees near the landfill, which is located east of Deir Al-Balah. The consultant in charge of preparing the plan presented the details of the landfill closure works and the environmental and social impacts that can occur during the closing and after closure activities.

After that the discussion was opened for the attendees to take their notes and express their suggestions, as these suggestions will be taken into consideration while preparing the plan.
